Digital /online marketing has been increasingly making its presence felt but up to now it has been subtle; print advertising still rules with online its poorer cousin. However, there is no doubt that the low commodity prices on the back of a weak economy and a struggling currency have led to a sharp decline in advertising spend. Although they reckon we have hit rock bottom I do not see recovery being rapid nor will we see boom times any time soon.
Notwithstanding the current state of affairs, we all know how important it is for advertising and branding to continue – especially now. But the mining, construction and general industry journals in particular have seen a dramatic decline in ad spend and as a result magazines are struggling to survive.
Sadly some have already advised that they are producing their last issue for 2016 and are researching different offerings in 2017 to ensure survival while other flagship titles are merging.
But it is not all gloom and doom. A positive result from this negative business climate – it has ignited the urgency of online advertising. While I believe and hope that print will always be around, online advertising offers a lot more– it is affordable, immediate, is measurable and supports SEO. We have spent the past few months conducting extensive research into digital / online marketing options available for industry. This also involved meeting with the media. While everyone seems to be on the digital bandwagon, there are good offers and less good.
We have been handling online advertising including banner design and Facebook monitoring for our clients for a number of years and we are equipped with extensive up-to-date knowledge of B2B online marketing to perfectly position LMC to be able to put together a strong, targeted and results-driven online campaign for clients.
